Hawaii Volacano National Park

We spent the whole day here...

We were supposed to only spend a morning, but I wanted to be there longueur and do the whole park.
So my wonderful hubby changed our plane tickets,
our rental cars, our accommodations so we could stay another night in Volcano Village
(Yes! in the little charming cottage!).

We hiked the 1h30mn hike through the forest, then the crater.
This volcano is still active.
It was like being on another planet!
Then the Jungle again.

To bring:
Water. Snacks. Hiking shoes. Hat.
An umbrella is handy, it sprinkles on and off every day or for shade!
Camera of course...
I recommend listening to the Ranger's 20mn talk on the volcanoes of Hawaii and
how the island's were created at the visitor center.

Start

Piled up rocks show the path.

Wild...

 Don't ask!

Feeling the heat coming out of the earth...

Plants growing in the lava rock.

Notice the depth of field on the S4 camera, not bad for a phone...

I found this place beautiful and fascinating...
