Texas Tradition - Home Coming - Early Seminary

Emric's first Home Coming Dance.
With his very first girlfriend.
He was quite the happy guy and very handsome!

This group of kids did the traditional High School Home coming stuff.
Photos - with all the parents there snapping away.
Dinner - somewhere expensive where they only eat half of their food.
Dance - for a very short time because the dancing gets nasty.
Party - at one of the kids house with finger food, pool, games and movie.

Part of the Texas Home Coming tradition is the boys make tacky "Texas mums & garters"
They actually ware them to school the day before!
I drew a line there,  not doing it!
These can cost a lot of money whether you buy from a professional "mum maker" or make it yourself!

I did make the little corsage and boutonniere for them, and took photos.

Most of these kids are in Mike's Seminary Class.
Yes! I forgot to mention that Mike is now teaching early morning Seminary at 5:50am!
Every day before High School starts.

For a night owl it's been an adjustment, but he has done beautifully!
I was very very worried about him being on time and there before his kids!
For those who know him, he does have a reputation of being too often late.
He does not get a lot of sleep with his very heavy work schedule.
We don't see him much.
When he is home, he is constantly thinking about them and how to teach them.
He has been strengthened many times for his diligent service.
He loves these kids!

Take Time

Sunday Stroll & Splits

With a couple of neat families walking Chloe and Piglet on a beautiful Sunday afternoon...

A random picture of Amelie doing the splits at Chick-A-fillet
It looks painful!

French Pie Pride

I entered my Peach Almond Pie 'tarte' in our Church Fall Fair.
Mike told me it would not win because it's probably too different from your typical 'Ameican Pie'

Well, it won second place!!!

I think it should have won first because the rule was that it had to
be totally made from scratch and I think that the first place pie had a mix.
I've asked, in a round about way, what was inside the 1dst place pie
and the family will not disclose the info...
Seams fishy to me!

This one was the Apple tarte I also made - which I did not enter in the contest.

The Winner

Boy, was it
Y U M M Y !

Happy Birthday Chris!

Mike, Sarah and I celebrated Chris's BDay at a Mexicain restaurant they had heard
about when they left Ohio.

Good food!

Keeper Friends

My friend Sarah is here now!
It almost feels surreal...

She is one of "those friends"
You know, the real "keeper" kind.

A friend who gets you.
A friend who accepts you.
A friend who knows you for a very long time.
A friend you can be silent with and it's not awkward.
A friend who, at times -many times- has been a God-sent-Angel.
A friend who, when reunited with after a long time, we just pick up where we left off.
A friend who knows what you are thinking, who can read you like an open book.
A friend who you can totally be yourself with, like silly and crazy.
A friend who doesn't mind doing your dirty work.
A friend who encourages & lifts when down.
A friend who puts you back in line.
A friend who forgives.

Those type of friends are priceless.
They can be counted on one hand.

You only have a very few in your  lifetime, but they are worth so much!

I love the ones I have - the few I can count on my one hand.
I hope you know who you are...

Freinds are back together

They are here!
The girls friends are back together!

These 2 are ready to go for a ride to the forest!
Guess who is in the driver seat?
