Mormons in Style

Last night Justine performed in a Stakewide activity about Modesty.
A previous Mrs Texas, Bonnie Hubert came and spoke to the girls.
She brought her evening gown and crown,
and shared how challenging it was to find modest clothing for such a competition.
But she did not compromise her standard,
even though she was told she would never win in such modest gowns and swimsuit.
After that inspiring talk, the Laurels (16 to 18 year old girls) modeled 3 outfits.
Casual, Evening gown, and Church dress.
They were followed by newly-wed brides.

The evening ended with some delicious yummy cheesecake with fresh berries.
Now that was finishing in style.
Oh! Justine decided she liked cheesecake after trying it!
She had a lot of fun!

Poppies

On my morning walk, I saw some beautiful Poppies in a back yard along the forest road.
I braved the mud and the mosquitoes just to get a snapshot!
They make my heart happy!

Poppies always remind me of France, of its beautiful countrysides...
Sigh... I miss it.

Soupir... Cela me manque.

Back Yard Snapshots

I'm so happy; most of my ferns and flowers survived our mild winter.
The boy scouts (including Emric) came to mulch our beds for a fundraiser.
Emric is working hard mulching almost every weekend
to fund his SeaBase adventure trip this summer.
Anyway, our back yard is starting to look so good.
I still have a few planters to fill with flowers.
I have some great looking herbs, parsley, rosemary, basil, oregano and thyme.
I also have a tomato plant.
I have to put everything in planters for now because my Chloe likes to dig
freshly turned around dirt!
Bref, notre jardin commence a bie donner.

Smoothies!!!

I Love my new handy dandy tool! I have the pretty blue one.
We are making tons of delicious smoothies!

J'aime mon nouveau gadget! J'ai le joli bleu.
Nous faisons plein de 'smoothies' super délicieux!!

ABC Set

Friday, Justine went with her church group to the set of ABC news here in Huston.
Someone in our Church is a Journalist and Anchor for the channel...
They learned a lot about how the studio was run.
And were there for a live show.
She had a blast!

(Sorry about the picture quality, they were all taken with cel phones!)
OH by the way that is our Bishop behind Justine and her friend!

I Love a Fresh Coat of Paint

This is what we did 'here' during Spring Break

It was a dark green khakish on the main floor and the stairs were dark red.
Too much dark for me!!!
Before

The pictures do not quite reflect the true colors, but it's close.
The 2 walls without windows are a beige/gray
The satires are those 2 colors too
I love the Sherwood Williams Super Paint
The blue/gray paint is Upward 25% lighter
The gray paint is Versatile gray 50% lighter
I always get my paint a shade lighter because I love it when it is goes on,
but I get disappointed when it dries darker.
I repainted some walls in my bedroom like 2/3 times before I was pleased with the shade!!
So from now on I just get lighter off the bat!

Result of our hard work:
* LOVE * LOVE * LOVE *

Even Mike Loves it!
He always puts up a stink when I want to change big things like that.
He said it makes the place look Bigger, Fresher and more Inviting.
He is also very confident now in my painting skills! I'm good! :)

I haven't put all my deco/frames back on yet.
I also want to maybe wallpaper the tall thingy in the corner like I saw in pinterest,
or paint where the red is, it doesn't match anymore.
I want some Oranges and/or Mustard Yellows!
I also want to get a nice rug for the sitting room and 2 colorful chairs.

Deco

Finishing the Day with a Little Entretiennent.

Mike saw a Sign on the side of the road on our way home
Sherwood Forest Festival
So we went to check it out
It was pretty much over, but we got to watch the grand finalie
Sorry about the screaming.
Some people just get super excited and I think the artists like it too! :)

More of Travis Park

Hamilton pools

The water was still a little chilly, but it did not stop Amelie from diving in and having fun!
